Hardwick Open – Results

Hello one and all!!!!

Thank you all for all the lovely comments / abuse / stick / etc following the golf day on Sunday.  I think it was an overall success?!

We did have a record turnout for this Morrison’s sponsored golf event and we were suitably rewarded with the weather!

It was an all round tense affair on the first tee, with young Jack leading out his team.  He may have found it easier if he used his club (picture attached suggests he didn’t even have one on the first!), but maybe that just showed the confidence of the young man?

As well as the usual prizes for first and second, we had the longest drive that was picked up by Medium Dave (whose group all enjoyed impressive drives, taking the honour from Jim Smith and then Brian).

There was some confusion for the nearest the pin prize with Michael being awarded that particular award…..only to be subject to Rule 43b (namely the ability to read names incorrectly) and was subsequently present to Jack MITCHELL.

For some reason the usual award for the best drive on the 16th wasn’t in use this year, but replaced with two other accolades – namely best front and back nine (other than those who had won a prize) and that was awarded to John for the front and myself for the best rear.

I’d like to make special thanks to Brian for his very generous round of drinks (following his hole in one on the 17th from a few weeks ago!).

This leaves us with the top two prizes.

In second place with a very commendable 36 points was our very own chocolate supplier, Paddy Mulhall, who pipped James H and John on count-back.

And now to the winner……  This year not only marked our biggest event in terms of players, but also the first year we’ve been joined by an overseas player.  All the way from the little known city in Mexico (Naucalpan) we were joined by Carlos ‘David’ Bandito who romped in with 42 (forty two) points.  Yes – the same player who picked up the Longest Drive prize.  We were all delighted for him.

Seriously – well played……and good luck next time off your new handicap.

So – straight to the results:

Medium Dave – 42

Paddy – 36

John – 36

James – 36

Andy – 35

Big Dave – 33

Lee – 33

Jack – 32

Brian – 30

Bob – 29

Jim – 29

Kevin – 28

Trefor – 25

John L – 20

So – to the next event……  We can either go with the 7th July or the 14th.  Same sort of time….different venue……roundabout the same price.

Can you please let me know if you’re free on either or both dates (ASAP) and I can then plan and negotiate with the clubs in question.  Let’s keep the momentum!!

Thanks all and see you soon!!

Dave (Tiger Woods) Rose
