We were relatively low with numbers, but high scoring was the form of the day on Sunday at Hardwick’s third golf outing of the year at Mentmore’s ‘flat’ course. Even the recently hollotined greens couldn’t stop the group demolishing the course!
We were also joined by a couple of new guests (Mike and George) as well as welcoming a new member (Andy – who after many years on the Hardwick waiting list, has been invited to live in the Village). More about Andy later!!!
Whilst good scoring was the theme of the day (average of 35 S/P for the day!) it was not always easy. The photo attached shows how popular the bunkers were (trust me – from personal experience – you didn’t want to be there!). However – I’m sure you agree, Farmer Bob, Andy B and Mike ‘Doris’ Spencer truly reflect what golf is all about!
Anyway – onward with the results!
Longest Drive: Jack (again!)
NTP: Jack (again!)
Clearly being a member holds some weight……talking of which…..did I mention young Andy (not old Andy B) is a member – playing with a handicap of 11?
Winner: Young Andy……..46 (forty six!!!!!) points. Played to one over par gross – this young man clearly was inspired by this prestigious competition and took the money – well deserved (and good luck off your new handicap!).
Runner Up: Yours truly….41 points
3rd: Andy B (40 points) – bad luck mate 😉
4th: Jack – 34 points (very good Jack)
5th: Brian – 31 points (last month’s winner)
6th: Mike – 28 points (steady debut)
7th: Farmer Bob – 27 points (too much time harvesting in the rough!)
8th: George (we’ll assume 26 points George!)
Anyways thanks again to all (especially Mike and George for joining us – more than welcome to the next event).
New handicaps for Young Andy (8); me (12); Andy B (23).
